Challenge Taiwan is the grandest triathlon event in the Asia-Pacific region. Every year, over 7,000 athletes gather in Taitung, to fulfill dreams and create stories together. Eligibility to Participate :

  1. Athletes must be at least 3 years old, have a passion for sports, a willingness to challenge themselves, and an interest in triathlon events. It is advised to carefully assess one's own health condition before registering.

  2. Participants under the age of 18 must complete a consent form for minors (including a parent/guardian consent form).

  3. Upon registration, participants must present a valid identification document for verification (For international participants: passport / For domestic participants: identification card) and sign the participation agreement. The organizers reserve the right to reject registrations of those who have not signed the agreement (Please do not register if you do not agree to the terms).

  • Finisher Awards: (for participants who complete the race within the specified cut off time ): Each finisher will receive a finisher shirt and a finisher medal.

  •  If unable to personally collect the awards, participants may authorize someone else to collect on their behalf. If shipping is required, participants will be responsible for the shipping fees and any damages during transportation.

  • Finishers must present their race bib and timing chip to receive the finisher's gift. Participants who have not collected their gift should keep their race bib for verification. Participants without a race bib will not be accommodated.

  • Elite category participants are responsible for verifying their eligibility for the Elite group. Only the Elite group ranking will be considered; no separate group rankings will be provided.

    ※ In support of environmental conservation, printed finisher certificates will not be provided. Electronic proof of results will be used instead.

Please search and download the "Challenge Asia Pacific" app for exclusive registration.

Registration Guidelines:

  1. Please read and agree to the event regulations , race rules, and the terms and conditions of the registration agreement.

  2. Participants under 18 years of age must fill out the minor participant consent form (including parental/guardian consent).

  3. Event slots are non-transferable, and rescheduling/refund policies are stated in the registration agreement.

  4. Incomplete procedures or insufficient payment will be considered as an incomplete registration, and participants may not raise objections.

  5. Completing the registration and payment implies agreement with the organizer's regulations.

  6. One month before the event, participant information will be announced on the official website and sent via email to the provided address. Please stay updated with registration information.

  7. Please assess your own ability to participate. Once registration is completed, no requests for name substitutions will be entertained for any reason.

  8. The organizer reserves the right to adjust the rules due to any unforeseen circumstances. Participants are advised to stay informed and familiarize themselves with the event rules as published in the participant handbook before the race.

Elite Group

  1. To ensure the integrity of the event for elite athletes, the organizer reserves the swimming start area for the Elite group.

  2. Eligibility: Participants must have achieved the qualifying finishing time in any triathlon event held between 2021 and 2023, both domestically and internationally.

Elite category participants are responsible for confirming their eligibility for the Elite group. Will only be included in the Elite group rankings and will not be counted in the age group rankings.

  1. The registration fees such as credit card processing fees, convenience store fees, and platform handling fees are non-refundable.

  2. Refunds will be processed in the order of confirming the participant's identity and information. Participants who receive a refund will lose their eligibility to participate in the event and will not receive any related event registration materials.

  3. To apply for withdrawal, please fill out the form at the following link: https://reurl.cc/gZV0OR. The process is as follows
    Step 1: The participant fills out the application form (select the option for withdrawal) and provides the necessary information.
    Step 2: Upon receiving the application, the organizers will send an acknowledgment and confirmation of the withdrawal process via email on the 15th and 30th of each month. Please wait patiently for the notification.

    Step 3: After receiving the confirmation email from the organizers, please verify if the information is correct and complete the withdrawal application process.


Postponement policy:

(1) If a participant is unable to participate in the race due to unavoidable circumstances, they must apply for a postponement and provide necessary supporting documents such as a medical certificate, a company travel certificate, or official documents issued by government departments.

  • Participants in the 226km category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $3,000.

  • Participants in the 113km category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $2,000.

  • Participants in the 51.5km/25.75km category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $1,000.

  • Participants in the Kids Triathlon/Mini Kids Triathlon category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $500.

  • Postponement requests will only be accepted for significant injuries (such as fractures) or pregnancy. Please submit a medical certificate with a clear indication of the required rest period.

  • In case of the death of a spouse or immediate family member of one of the participants, postponement requests will be considered. Supporting documents such as death certificates should be provided.

  • Participants in the 226km category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $3,800.

  • Participants in the 113km category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $2,800.

  • Participants in the 51.5km/25.75km category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $1,800.

  • Participants in the Kids Triathlon/Mini Kids Triathlon category requesting a postponement are required to pay a postponement fee of $800.

  • Special Note: Participants who have already applied for a postponement are not eligible to apply for a refund within the same year.

(2)To apply for a postponement, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Fill out the application form at https://reurl.cc/gZV0OR (select the option for postponement) and provide the necessary information. Upload the required documents as proof of the postponement.
Step 2: Once the postponement application is received, it will undergo a one-week review process. Please wait patiently for further notification from the organizers.
Step 3: After the review process is completed, the organizers will send an email regarding the status of the postponement application. If approved, the organizers will provide instructions for submitting the postponement fee.
Step 4: Upon receiving the confirmation letter for the postponement from the organizers, please submit the postponement fee within three days to complete the postponement application process.

(3) Each participant is allowed to postpone their participation for only one year. If they are unable to participate in the following year, it is their responsibility to apply for a refund according to the refund policy for that year. Failure to submit a refund request before the specified deadline stated in the regulations will result in the forfeiture of the participant's eligibility, and the organizers will not provide additional notification.
(4) After completing the postponement application, participants are not allowed to request a change of category. They must participate in the race in the originally registered category.
(5) If a postponement is granted from 2024 to 2025, and the participant is unable to participate in the race in 2025, the refund will be processed according to the refund policy for 2025.
(6) Postponement applications for reasons other than those specified will not be accepted.


Check-in Instructions:

  1. All participants are required to check-in online via the app and collect their athletes bag on-site. Therefore, race materials such as bib numbers and gear bags will be distributed during the check-in process.

  2. During check-in, please provide your participant number and present the check-in page on the app, along with a valid identification document (passport for international participants, ID card or photo ID health insurance card for domestic participants) for verification.

  3. Before check-in, participants must complete the online race waiver. Participants under 18 years of age must also sign a consent form for underage participants. Failure to sign the required documents will result in the participant being prohibited from participating in the race.

  4. Upon receiving the race materials, participants should carefully check the information on their bib numbers and timing chips, including their name and participant number, to ensure accuracy. Any discrepancies should be reported immediately to avoid any potential issues or discrepancies.

  5. Once check-in is completed, participants are responsible for the safekeeping of their race bag. Lost items will not be reissued.

  6. If a participant is unable to attend the check-in in person and wishes to appoint someone else to collect the race materials on their behalf, the appointed person must present an authorization letter for check-in, along with the participant's identification document (photo or copy), and the appointed person's identification document. The appointed person must verify the quantity of the materials received on the spot, sign to confirm accuracy, and the organizer will not provide any further reissues thereafter.

  7. Parent-Child Check-in / Two-Day Race Check-in Application and Instructions:
    (1) Application Deadline: Submit the application by 2024.03.15 (Friday) 23:59.

    (3) Application Restrictions:
    a. To accommodate the Family Category participants who may not be able to accompany their Juniors during check-in, we have introduced the Parent-Child Check-in application.
    b. Only applications from participants who are unable to have their children check-in independently due to scheduling conflicts with the main Ironman race will be considered.
    c. Considering that the Relay Category consists of three participants, the Parent-Child Check-in and Two-Day Race Check-in applications are only applicable to individual participants (including the Buoy Category).

Event Guidelines

  1. Participants must bring their own bicycles for the race. There will be no bicycle rental service available on the race day. Please refer to the competition rules for specific bicycle requirements.

  2. Upon receiving the race materials, participants must verify that the information on the "Race Bib" and "Chip," such as name and participant number, is accurate. Any discrepancies should be reported to avoid any inconvenience or damage to the participant's rights.

  3. It is mandatory to wear the race bib in a visible location during the race (on the back while cycling and on the chest during the run). All four corners of the race bib must be securely fastened for proper identification and monitoring by the control point systems. Instructions on chip usage can be found in the event manual.

  4. Participants must follow the instructions of the referees, police, and event staff during the race.

  5. After using paper cups at the hydration stations, participants are requested to dispose of the cups in the designated trash bins provided by the organizers. This helps promote environmental sustainability and facilitates post-race cleanup.

  6. It is recommended to ensure an adequate amount of sleep the night before the race to maintain optimal physical condition on the race day.

  7. Safety comes first. If a participant experiences any discomfort or health issues during the race, they should immediately stop competing and call the emergency contact number provided by the organizers. Event staff will assist accordingly. Participants are advised to carry their health insurance card and identification documents and submit the signed participation consent form during registration to demonstrate responsibility.

  8. Participants are urged to carefully consider their physical health and abilities. If there is a history of heart disease or cardiovascular issues, participants should not conceal their condition when registering for the race. Once the registration process is completed and the payment is made, requests for changes to the participant list will not be accepted.

  9. By participating in this event, participants confirm that they are in good health and meet the eligibility criteria. In the event of any unforeseen incidents or health-related issues during the race, participants agree to take full responsibility and release the organizers from any liability, while also committing to comply with the event regulations.

  10. Please read the competition regulations thoroughly for further details.


Timing 

  • The organizer will calculate the timing records based on the starting time of each wave and use these records to determine the ranking and results of the participants.

  • Timing Chip:

  1. This event uses a chip sensing system to record the results. The "Official Results" are based on the starting time of each wave. All award results are determined by the "Official Results."
  2. During the race, participants must securely attach the timing chip to their left ankle. Please refer to the pre-event handbook for instructions on how to wear it.
  3. Participants are responsible for ensuring the proper and secure attachment of the timing chip. Any participant who loses their timing chip will forfeit their eligibility for awards.
  4. The timing chip is the basis for recording the race time. Please ensure that you pass through each sensing point and confirm that the chip attached to you has been detected by the sensing mat. The organizer will not be responsible for any participant who fails to use the timing chip as required, resulting in no recorded result.
  5. Participants are prohibited from exchanging chips, wearing another person's chip, or wearing more than one chip. Violators will be disqualified, and their results will not be counted.
  6. In case of a lost timing chip, a replacement fee of NTD $1,000 will be charged.
  7.  After the race, the results may be adjusted due to participant appeals or issues with the timing chip. If the ranking differs from the awards ceremony, the official results announced on the event website will prevail. Participants are not entitled to request compensation from the organizer. We ask for your understanding and compliance with the event regulations.

Disclaimer

  1. I am aware that participating in this event may involve physical injuries and risks resulting from activities such as chasing, running, and jumping, as well as personal conditions or external factors. These risks include, but are not limited to, drowning, sprains, strains, fractures, injuries caused by high or low temperatures (including burns, heat-related illnesses, and hypothermia), overuse syndrome, injuries caused by the negligence of other participants (including but not limited to spectators, event staff, or volunteers), and injuries caused by heart disease, stroke, or death.

  2. I am fully aware of and understand the complete nature of the event and agree to assume all risks associated with this event (including but not limited to personal and property damages).

  3. In the case of group registration, if I have obtained the personal information of the group members and registered on behalf of all group members, it represents that all group members have authorized me as their representative. I have the obligation to inform all group members of this disclaimer and it is considered that both myself and all group members have read and agreed to the terms of this disclaimer and authorization for this event.

  4. In order to ensure safety and consider the traffic conditions at the event venue, participants should arrive at the event venue on time according to the announced event schedule. Participants agree to follow the rules, instructions, and guidance of the event organizer and staff during the event (such as event routes, traffic control measures, event duration, and other related matters). The event organizer shall not be held responsible for any damages incurred as a result of not following the above-mentioned requirements.

  5. I agree that the event organizer (including but not limited to event staff, co-organizers, and sponsors) shall only be liable for compensation within the scope of public liability insurance coverage (subject to claims by the insurance company providing coverage for this event). Beyond this scope, I agree to waive and abandon any claims for damages against the event organizer (including but not limited to staff, co-organizers, and sponsors) Furthermore, in the event of personal or third-party injury or property damage caused by my own factors, I shall bear the responsibility and shall not seek compensation from the event organizer (including but not limited to staff, co-organizers, and sponsors).

  6. I agree to accept emergency medical services provided by the event organizer, and both myself and my guardian agree to waive any liability for damages arising from medical assistance or services provided by the event organizer.

  7. After the registration deadline, no requests for changing names or event categories will be entertained for any reason. Participants are not allowed to transfer their participation to others. Participants who fail to complete the registration process or participate under false identities will not be covered by any insurance or claims-related liability of the event organizer. Please comply with the relevant regulations of the event.

  8. In the event that a participant experiences any unforeseen circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 vaccination during the event, the participant is responsible for their own actions and it falls outside the scope of claims. No claims for compensation in any form may be made against the organizer, supervisory entity, event organizer, or sponsor, among others.


Insurance

  • The event has obtained public liability insurance in accordance with the safety management guidelines for large-scale gatherings. Necessary emergency medical assistance will be available on-site. The public liability insurance only covers injuries resulting from venue negligence. Any pre-existing conditions or illnesses are not covered. Participants who require coverage for such conditions are advised to obtain their own travel insurance.

  1. Scope of Public Liability Insurance Coverage: The insurance company is responsible for compensating the insured for bodily injury, death, or property damage to third parties arising from the following accidents occurring during the insurance period, for which the insured is legally liable according to the policy terms.

    (a.) Accidents occurring within the business premises specified in the insurance policy, caused by the insured or their employees in the course of business operations.
    (b.) Accidents occurring within the buildings, passages, machinery, or other work objects used in business operations.

  2. Special Exclusions:

    (a.) Sports injuries caused by personal illnesses.
    (b.) Symptoms caused by personal physical conditions or cardiovascular issues, such as shock, heart disease, diabetes, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, altitude sickness, epilepsy, dehydration, etc.
    (c.) Participants with a medical history related to the conditions mentioned above are advised to carefully consider their own safety and obtain personal accident insurance.
    (d.)Participants should assess their physical condition and capabilities, ensure sufficient sleep the day before the race, and complete their meals at least 2 hours before the race. If feeling unwell, they should immediately stop the race and seek assistance. It is highly dangerous to continue the race and risk heat exhaustion (heat stroke), and such cases will not be covered by the insurance. The event provides emergency medical assistance on-site, but any medical conditions or symptoms caused by the participants' pre-existing illnesses are not within the scope of coverage by the organizer's insurance.

  3. The organizer will assist injured participants in seeking medical treatment and related claims processes but cannot provide compensation for damages, emotional distress, or condolence payments.

  4. Participants are required to carry their national health insurance cards to protect their medical rights.

  5. Participants who require higher protection are advised to obtain additional personal insurance to safeguard their own interests.

  6. It is recommended for participants to obtain additional insurance related to cycling.

  7. Common coverage areas for bicycle insurance include:

    (a.)Personal injury insurance: Provides coverage for accidental bodily injury, disability, or death of the insured during the policy period.
    (b.)Third-party liability insurance: Provides liability coverage for bodily injury, death, or property damage to third parties caused by the insured while riding a bicycle.
    (c.)Bicycle loss insurance: Provides coverage for the damage or loss of the bicycle due to collision with automobiles, motorcycles, or other bicycles while riding.

    Privacy Policy

In order to organize the "2024 Challenge Taiwan" event (hereinafter referred to as "the event"), the company will collect personal information of individuals and others within the scope of the event's purpose, including personal data such as name, mobile phone number, date of birth, ID number, address, gender, nationality, phone number, email, emergency contact person and their address, and phone number. The collection, processing, and utilization of the aforementioned personal information will be limited to the needs of the event's organizers, affiliated companies, event organizers, co-organizers, cooperating vendors, and business-related institutions, in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act. In the future, if the organizers carry out related marketing activities, they will send event information via SMS or email (using the contact information provided by you).

I (or the group) and the legal guardian(s) associated with me also agree that the organizers and authorized units have the right to use recorded videos and photos of me (or the group) and the legal guardian(s) for various promotional activities related to this event. Other personal information will be kept confidential in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act.

I (or the group) and the legal guardian(s) associated with me agree that the organizers and authorized units have the right to publicly use, utilize, sell, and trade the audiovisual materials and photos mentioned above. I (or the group) also waive any civil claims and criminal complaints against the organizers and authorized units regarding the aforementioned audiovisual materials and photos.

  3. Non-cooperative contracted vendors are prohibited from engaging in commercial activities involving the sale of images captured or recorded of participating athletes.

  4. You have the following rights regarding your personal information: the right to inquire about or request access to your personal information, the right to request the production of copies, the right to request supplementation or correction, the right to request the cessation of collection, processing, or utilization, and the right to request deletion.

  5. The collection, processing, or utilization of your personal information for this event is based on the aforementioned reasons, and you are free to choose whether to provide your personal information. If you choose not to provide personal information or provide incomplete information, it may result in the inability to successfully register for this event. Furthermore, if it is necessary to collect personal information of athletes or related individuals and provide it to this event, please fully explain and inform the parties involved about their rights regarding the protection of personal information in accordance with the contents of this notice.

  6. In the event of force majeure (such as natural disasters or adverse weather conditions) that necessitates consideration of safety factors, the organizers may cancel, postpone, or adjust the event route. Relevant information will be announced on the event's official website before the event, without further notice.

  7. The organizers reserve the right to modify the terms and conditions of the event. The above provisions may be revised by the organizers at any time without prior notice. In case of any disputes, the organizers retain the final decision-making authority.
